When first a "plain white van" took us to Mexico and into an alley where they honked to open a gate, I was a bit frightened. I thought how easily we could have been traffiked. (Luckily, Tony (the driver) had a shirt on with the hospital name or we wouldn't have went with him.) ALL of those insecurities were VERY quickly resolved as we met the wonderful staff and was readied for the surgery the next day.

Surgery was fine, that day and night following REALLY sucked! I don't think I have thrown up that much in the past 10yrs. They assured me it was "normal" for some patients to have a reaction to the anesthetic and I would be fine. At the time, I couldn't help but think WTH did I do!! After the nausea went away, I was sore, but fine.

The following day, I met most of the other patients who also had the procedure and two especially wonderful nurses. Alejandra (Alex 1) and Enrique (Henry). Both of them were very careful, caring and as adorable as they could be. Alex 1 because of her knowledge of everything, how it worked, all the procedures and would make sure I had everything I needed. And Henry, well, because he reminded me SOOO much of my grandson Jake, he was just as sweet and kind as they get. He and the other nurses got a BIG kick out of showing them a picture of my grandson and even took pictures of Henry and a picture of my Jake together. After that, Henry would call me his "Abuela" and for me, it felt like a little part of my family was with me. :)

All in all, I extremely glad I went to get my sleeve. I had literally dieted myself fat and now, I glad that part of my life is over. I am very much looking forward to this next journey of life.

Thank you Dr. Almanza and your wonderful staff for everything.
