I ve been researching this procedure for more than 5 years. I ve done all of the pre-testing, sat thru seminars, etc... but at the end of the day, insurance wouldn t pay a dime and I couldn t bring myself to spend $24k on this.
Every time I would research, WLA would pop up in the search and I d see that if I were willing to leave the country, I could have it for $20k less!
I m an adventurer- I love travel- and this didn t scare me at all, but it terrified everyone around me. But for some reason, this time, my husband was on board.
The entire experience from start to finish was amazing. Communication pre-trip was great. And once I arrived in San Diego, I was grouped with other patients for the rest of the process. We have remained in touch and are encouraging each other daily.
The hospital is brand new, immaculate and beautiful. Medical care was top notch. My only regret at this point is that I didn t do this sooner.
I don t have any after pics to post yet- but I can tell you I started the liquid diet 5 days pre-op and I am exactly 2 week s post-op and am down 21 pounds and feeling great!
