I will have to say that my experience at the hospital and the hotel far exceeded my expectations. I had to limit my intake 10 days prior to surgery and during that time I dropped 20 pounds and made the surgery easier for me and for Dr. Almanza. Each and every staff member was so kind, compassionate, and competent. I have never been treated like such a special person for any of the surgeries I had in the states. I am a nurse myself and really did inspect the hospital to make sure it met the standards I expect and it did in every way! Even the drivers in the vans were so kind and careful as they drove us around after surgery. The staff at the hotel was phenomenal. They were so kind and never seemed to mind getting us more water, juice, jello, or pop-cycles, which our requests were many throughout the day. The nurses at the hotel were kind, gentle, and so wonderful to have available. It was comforting to know that a nurse was there anytime you needed one.
Since surgery, I have continued to lose and have lost a total of 35 pounds so far since I started on this journey. I have more energy and can tell differences in so many ways. I have a long way to go to get to my goal weight, but there is progress along the way. I am taking it slowly with my meals and sticking to the instructions carefully and doing very well in that regard. I visited my family doctor this week for a follow up visit and he is extremely pleased with my progress and with all of my lab values. He was excited to see the x-ray that was sent home with me.
I am so happy that I made this decision. Going to Mexico by myself and having surgery without anyone there for me, I was a little nervous, but the staff made up for my lack of someone there for me.
I will forever by grateful to Dr. Almanza and his staff for all the care and compassion that was given to me.
