I had my surgery on 1/7/2015. It was a lap band to a sleeve. I had my lap band done December 1990. I had it for 25 years. Dr Almanza revised it on the 7th. All went well with the surgery. That night as I tried to get up I passed out, my son also had the sleeve done so he was in the same room with me, he called for the nurse, she tried to help me up and I passed out again. When I woke up again I had 3 nurses helping me they were taking my blood pressure and sugar levels since I'm diabetic. My blood pressure had dropped and my sugar level was high they quickly got both under control. The next day I had a bleed caused from the removal of the lap band I had for 25 years. Dr Almanza was there immediately and took me back in and repaired the bleed. I stayed one more day in the hospital. I felt very confident in Dr Almanza's staff, he does so many surgeries every month that his staff has seen it all and know exactly what to do. I then was taken to x-ray to check for further bleeds. All was well. I was taken to the hotel they provide. I was there for 3 days. The nurses they have at the hotel took great care of me. The hotel even provides you with a driver to take you shopping. The drivers that drive you from airport to hospital to x-ray to hotel and back to airport were great to. They slow down for every bump after your surgery and Mexico has a lot of bumps. The only complaint I have was the hotel beds are really hard and they ran out of jello, apple juice, and had no pop sickles. Other than that I would highly recommend this to everyone.
