It has now been 6 weeks since my surgery. My incisions are almost completely healed and I have lost about 16 lbs. This may not seem like much compared to others who have had the surgery however I am losing inches too. I was very pleased with my stay during the procedure and have no qualms about recommending the surgery and Jerusalem Hospital to anyone. The customer service, information and surroundings were all satisfactory during my stay. Helpful hints to realize before and during this change is to remember that this is a life changing procedure, what you were used to eating before may not be tolerable to your stomach now. I can no longer drink coffee, sodas or any fried foods. I have occasionally had something sweet (cravings) but in a very small quantity. Eating out has also been an issue since I can only hold about 3-4 bites of certain foods. I am also having trouble with foods I ate before such as eggs, milk and cheese. It may be a while to reintroduce some of those items in moderation over the next year as your stomach will take a while to heal inside. I highly recommend getting the B-12 shot on a weekly basis at least for the first month to help with your energy levels. I am now taking the shot on a bi-weekly basis. Best of luck to anyone getting the procedure, I am looking forward to the summer months and becoming more active outside.
