My story is a little different than most in that I already had Lap Band weight loss surgery 10 years ago. I was basically happy with my band although it took much more maintenance than I had anticipated (fills/unfills). I had lost about 50 lbs. and was maintaining give or take 10 lbs. I noticed a few months ago I was able to eat more than usual so I went in for a fill. I didn t feel any restriction at all so I went in for another, and another, and another. After gaining about 20 lbs. the doctor finally discovered my band was leaking into my abdomen. Well, long story short, my insurance would pay for the removal of the band but not the Sleeve. I knew that the band needed to come out but I also knew that I was not able to maintain a healthy weight on my own. After 3 weeks of going back and forth with the insurance company and my doctor, I was at my wits end. Since my first surgery was performed in Mexico, I thought I d do some quick research to see if this would be an option again.

I quickly found Weight Loss Agents and Dr. Almanza. I read all of the reviews (good and bad) and decided within 24 hours that I was on board for another Mexico surgery (they called my procedure Band to Sleeve). There were others getting Bypass to Sleeve but most were getting just the Sleeve. Now, I know that a lot of people are terrified at the thought of going to Mexico for surgery but you need to know that the hospital was wonderful, the nurses attentive, and you get 24 hour nursing care even at the hotel. You never feel like you aren t getting the best care.

I booked my surgery on a Saturday, a few days later on Tuesday I was in Tijuana at the hotel. Surgery was performed on Wednesday and I was home on Saturday. Needless to say, I am relieved to have the defective Lap Band out of my body. Everything went exactly as planned and how Weight Loss Agents had told me the process would go.
