Hello, my name is Cindy. I live in Tucson Az. I had my last child in my thirties (1995) initially trying to lose only 20 lbs following the pregnancy and very year another ten pounds creeped onto me until I was at 198 lbs, size 18 and about to go into a plus size. At this point I had already spent every waking moment of my life thinking about my weight. Weighing myself daily, trying all the current diets fads. Spending umpteen amounts of my hard earned money on pills, scales, weights, programs, delivered foods, exercise equipment...etc. etc. etc. to fail...sadly, depressingly. Hating how I am. Wanting and wondering why this stupid weight was possessing me, every day in every way. I was so unhappy. My husband of 25 yrs told me daily he loved me and I was beautiful. Gosh I married well. My 50th birthday was approaching and he asked what I wanted, I said weight loss surgery, I was done trying and was ready for the ultimate decision. My husband who was recently laid off, took the time to do all the research for the gastric sleeve surgery. He found Dr. Almanza online. Read the reviews, called and asked questions, compared costs, weighed the options and helped me make the best decision of my life. We went to Mexico. Initially to San Diego where we stayed overnight at the suggested hotel and meet the next morning with a group of nice Canadians who felt the same as me.

I am now two years post surgery and weigh 132 lbs. I couldn't be happier. I buy clothes in size 8 and sometimes 6. My husband saw the change take affect in me and went to Dr. Almanza three months after me. He said I can't be the fat guy married to the hot wife. Now we both share our meals when we eat out, save a ton of money at restaurants and live a healthy, happy life together. Scott no longer needs the prescribed medicine he was on prior to the weight loss.

Since I had the surgery, Scott and two other close friends have followed us and went to Dr. Almanza.

Sometimes I think about the fact that I went out of the country to have a surgery and wonder why I would take such a risk?? Then I remember how unhappy I was, and realized that I was desperate. Sure, some would say it was a huge risk, mom with 3 kids, going out of the country for a surgery that could have complications. But they never felt like I did when I was hopeless, unhappy, and trapped in a fat body.

Thank you everyone involved, from the phone calls, to the hotel, to the nice van driver who came to get us, to the clinic staff during check in. The following Doctors who made sure I was a good candidate for surgery. Dr. Almanza and his surgery staff, the super great recovery staff at the recovery house who made me comfortable following surgery and the hospitality offered my husband as my support staff for the few days I was recovering.

A lot happened in a few days. And for that I am eternally grateful.
