I was lucky because once I made up my mind I was going to have the surgery I was never bothered with second thoughts or any concerns. I just knew it would be a good choice. I went down by myself to San Diego and was able to find a group of ladies waiting for the hospital van just as I departed the airport.
When I went i was going to have the lap band surgery, even though I couldn't find anyone medical support locally. Dr. Almanza help me decide that this may prove to be a challenge. He suggested that I consider having the gastric sleeve. I have to admit that it was something I had been thinking about but I thought because I was already booked fro the lap band I wouldn't be able to change. I did go ahead with the gastric sleeve and was allowed to pay the remainder when I returned home.
I have had to learn how to eat not only less but slower and the eating slower has taken longer to learn than you might think. In the seven months I've lost almost 70 pounds and dropped to a size 9-10 and can wear anything from almost any store. The shopping is definately great. I have no long having joint pain my energy levels are continuing to increase.
I would like to say that the hospital was very friendly and the staff most efficient. Even thought the hospital is small and located in a strip mall it was very clean and well organized. It is a choice I have no regrets about and wish everyone the best of luck making your decision. That was really the only hard part.
