My A1C was 9.6 and I was put on another medication to help lower it, I decided then that I had to have surgery to get my diabetes in check. So far, I feel this has been the best decision ever. My A1C is now 6.5 and no longer taking additional medication. I am taking 500mg of metformin instead of 2000mg as well. My blood sugar has been so good I am hoping to be off totally soon. I am down 37 pounds since my journey began and very excited about the future.
