I was a pretty small person for almost all of my life. I had some medical issues that required many different medicines over the past 11 years. I went from a size 4 to a size 18. At my heaviest weight I was just under 300 pounds! I tried over the past 4 years to lose weight. I managed to lose 86 pounds and just stayed there for 3 years. I tried everything from different diets, products and exercise with very little results. I work in Law Enforcement and am 48 years old. I knew that if I wanted to continue with my choice in careers, that I needed to do something about my weight. I decided that I wanted a new life. I did some research, talked to people I know who have done different weight loss surgeries, and I talked to two of my Doctors. I weighed out the pros and cons and finally decided that the Gastric Sleeve was the right procedure for me. I have a friend who had this procedure done 2 1/2 years ago and she was doing great!
I had my procedure done on October 24, 2014. I was up walking around Mexico the very next day. I am 8 weeks out from my surgery and I feel great! I have lost 44 pounds and 2 pant sizes. I am in need of new clothes and my wedding ring needs to be resized. I feel so good and I have so much more energy. I am finding that I can do so many more things than I have in a very long time.
Making the commitment to this surgery is committing to a life change. You really have to want it. The surgery alone will not be successful unless you want to make a life change. I knew that I was ready and am so excited for me! I feel great!
