I want to start by saying that I had a great experience in every way with Dr. Almanza and his team. There were absolutely no issues with the surgery or care after the surgery. I am very happy with the results and thank everyone involved.

At some point in 2011, I made the decision that I needed to do something about my weight. I was 300 pounds and had a very hard time controlling what I ate. I tried all kinds of diets, but everything lost would eventually come back...and more. I tried doing surgery through my medical provider, but they told me that I was only border line and did not meet the requirements. In addition, no sleeve was offered. I started checking on line and found Dr. Almanza and Tijuana. I found the price to be reasonable and started checking credentials and most importantly the results of others. Every review and comment was very positive. I made the decision to have surgery and am very happy I did.

One year later, I am 80 pounds less and very active, went from a 44 pant size to 34, and am now exercising 5 times a week and extremely happy. My health is much better, my diabetes and blood sugar is extremely stable and I feel so much better. I don't feel that this would be possible without the surgery. I watch very closely what I eat, drink no carbonated beverages and no fried food. I think that it is important to want to change your entire life style, as I had read, and did that. My diet contains lots of lean protein and vegetables. I have an occasional treat, but in very small quantity. If you do elect to get surgery, you have to make up your mind that this will be a lifelong endeavor and that you will stick to eating healthy and sound. This was very hard for me as I ate everything. Loved big steaks, ice cream, lots of potatoes, sausage, fried food galore etc.

So in conclusion, I highly recommend this procedure, and Dr. Almanza, but warn you that you must make the decision to change your eating and exercise habits and decide to do that for life.
