I was 100 pounds overweight. My wonderful doctor had done it all for me - counseling, diet/nutrition guidelines, even a prescription for my self-induced hypertension. She was fully confident that I could get the weight off. I wasn't so sure. But I knew that even if I spent the next year or so losing it, I would then spend the next year or so gaining it all back. That has been my pattern since I was 18. I was so sick of eating, it made me eat more!

I needed an external control, a permanent solution to the ups and downs. A friend referred me to Weight Loss Agents as she had been successful in her journey there with sleeve surgery. I pondered it for several months. Then I woke up one day, called and was on my way.

I only told one person about my plans. I knew everyone else would react negatively, not to the surgery, but the location. My insurance wouldn't pay for it in the states though. I am a nurse, so I blew up WLA email with questions. Every question was answered to my satisfaction in a timely and professional manner (and I had their responses in writing). When I arrived, all went exactly as had been told to me. I scrutinized everything every step of the way. I even did a finger swipe of the OR floor - clean as a whistle. Most things were done exactly as would be done in a USA hospital. The things that were different were negligible.

I made the right decision. I am 2 1/2 weeks post sleeve gastrectomy, have lost 20 pounds, feel better already than I have in such a long time and look forward to the years of my life that I have left.
