I came in at a pretty low weight for surgery. But with all the co-morbidity issues, I decided it was the best path for me. I can't say enough good things about the facility and my care. I had a private room the night before surgery and a shared room off the nurses station for the two days after surgery. I popped gax x on the regular, took the meds prescribed and didn't have to take as much as a tylenol when I got home for pain. I came home feeling well and ready to tackle the journey ahead. I went in at 218 because I was on a 7 day pre-surgery diet, so weight loss has been steady but slow. Slower than those that go in at a much higher weight. But I am seeing a weightloss of 1.5-2lbs/week that I never would have had without the assistance of this surgery. I am off my diabetes medication, I am on my last month of weaning off my blood pressure medication and I am taking 1/3 the amount of acid reflux medication that I was taking before surgery. I am happy. The first three weeks were really hard. The first week especially. But follow the Dr's orders and eat your prescribed foods because this is a huge lifestyle shift. I am at 183...a weight I have not seen in over 10 years and I am on track to meeting my goal within the 1 year mark. In my attached presurgery picture I weighed about 245 and I am 5'5".
