Two years ago, I made the best decision of my life (except for marrying my husband): to have gastric sleeve surgery. As a mother of five, I was always putting my children, husband, teaching position, before myself! Gastric sleeve isn't the easy way out and you definitely need to be committed to making changes in your life; however, I am so incredibly happy with my results. When I had surgery, I weighed 287 pounds and wore a XXL or size 20/22. I reached my goal of 170 in 8 months but continued to lose weight. I set 170 as my goal because I never imagined I could be a THIN person. I continued to lose weight until 14 months post surgery. My final weight is 130-135 pounds and I wear a size small or size 2-4. Because of this surgery, I got to take my dream trip to Ireland and Scotland with my daughters last month. I would never have been able to have this amazing adventure with my girls if I would have been 287 pounds! I am more active, happier, and more confident. I will be a first time Mimi in September and I'm so glad I will be an active grandmother!
