I call my surgery the beginning of a new life for me. I was overweight, yes, but not drastically. My weight caused other problems that I knew I did not want to face later in my life. I watch my father sit and do nothing for years. His weight has caused him to have hip and back problems. He has diabetes and heart problems, along with high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Already having knee problems and high blood pressure, I did not want the rest of the problems that I was very likely to get. The surgery went well, and Dr. Almanza and his staff are wonderful. I am going into week 3, and I am doing well They say the first month is the hardest, but I have done well and have not been hungry. I will continue to work at this to reach my goals, but I know that as many times as I have tried and failed that it would not be possible without the surgery. I am looking forward to a healthy rest of my life.
