Panniculectomy

A panniculectomy is the surgical removal of a pannus. A pannus is when there is excess skin and fat tissue, sometimes referred to as an "apron" of skin which may hang down over the thighs and/or the genitals. This excess skin may make it difficult to maintain proper hygiene in the area of the genitals.

    What is the procedure like?

This procedure involves a large incision and usually takes the surgeon several hours from start to finish.

    Should I get a panniculectomy?

If you are in overall good health, and you and your doctor together decide that you are a good candidate, a panniculectomy may be a good option for you to consider. Please discuss your expectations with your provider to make sure that they are valid expectations.

In addition to the benefits, there are risks associated with this procedure. To learn more about the risks, please click here. Outcomes are not guaranteed and testimonials come with a disclaimer.
