At 60 years of age being overweight with borderline diabetes, high blood pressure, lower back problems and a slew of other minor health issues including a much slowed down metabolism I realized something had to be done because it was all downhill from there.

Having researched the surgical options I decided to go with a Lapband which was less invasive than other treatments however as I continued researching it became apparent that many others who already had Lapband surgery had gone back and had VGS surgery. So I research that further. The Lapband certainly came with its issues such as the band needing to be refilled and the trial and error of how much to fill as well as the band slipping. Then the second surgery and its costs.

So I decided to go directly to VGS surgery despite being invasive because it appeared to be the best long term option. The first 2 months following surgery was a major adjustment to diet and lifestyle. One can eat so very little so it has to be nutrient dense food only. As Calories take a back seat to protein through this whole process there is lack of energy but that is building up again now.

Now that the months have passed, having gone through the whole process it is WITHOUT A DOUBT the best decision I could have made.

I love being 'trimmed-down' again. I kept all my smaller clothes because I knew I didn`t want to be overweight and was determined that I would wear them again. It was so 'magical' to pull them all out and to put them on and see the old me.

Ì never thought about other people and their weight before but now I see other obese people around me and think to myself, 'if only they would do this also, how much happy they would feel about being themselves'.

Back to the actual 'doing' part of the whole process. My research took me to a Bariatric Specialist Clinic in Tijuana Mexico. I talked to others who had their surgery there and was impressed with the feedback.

So off I went, the whole process from the pickup to drop off at San Diego airport was excellent. We met all the surgical staff prior to surgery, the entire procedure was discussed with us individually where absolutely any questions or concerns were addressed. The after surgery care again was excellent and professional.

I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Dr Almanza and the Weightloss Clinic. They were excellent.
