The trip going was pretty cool. We met a few others outside the airport in San Diego. The ride across the border interesting, the scenery was beautiful. The hotel was nice, everyone we met that was involved with our circumstances were extremely nice. Took a stroll and things looked a lot like NO(home). The night before surgery a group of us met in the restaurant and had our four course meal which consisted of: ice chips, apple juice, soup (broth) and two popsicles, yum. The day of surgery we were up early showered and waited for the ride. When it was our turn we were off. While at the hospital we met nurses and two other Drs. Then we met Dr Almanza a youngster. He had the surgery five years prior and has done awesome. He explained everything and how it will all work, some people had questions and he had answers. The nurses began to do there thing and that is the last memory before lights out.
When I woke up tummy was sore but I just wanted to sleep. We slept first night at hospital. It was not like being in a hospital where someone wakes you every thirty minutes for vitals and temp. You called and they came, if you needed something you could get it. The next morning we were up and getting ready to go to our hotel. After getting back to hotel we went to restaurant for lunch. I had ice chips and two pink popsicles. Then upstairs for showers, the nurses came to change bandages and we met hotel Dr, he checked us out and we rested, then tried to walk around some. The key is walking and ice chips, we were told both of those were important. My friend spent more time walking around and I spent most of my time sleeping.
The trip home was the longest ever. We were tired sore and ready to rest.
Ask if I would do this again and the answer would be Definitely. The whole experience was pretty cool!
