I wanted to have the sleeve for several years now, but my insurance would not cover. The cost in the states, at my physicians, is over $20,000. I happened to run across weight loss agents (wla) and filled out the info. My cost was < $4000.00. I started reading testimonials and researching. I decided I am able to do this. So I started it up and scheduled my surgery. The w.l.a. took care of everything on this end. (F.m.l.a. papers, disability papers). When i arrived in tijuana I called w.l.a. and they let me know who would pick me up and what type of automobile. The driver took me to the hospital where i was seen by a cardiologist, who did an ekg, drew blood and examined me. I signed paperwork and then I was taken to the hotel. The hotel staff was great. Anything we needed they were there. Six of us had surgery that day and we all gathered at the hospital where Dr.Almanza and his team came in to meet us. He asked questions to help him perform the surgery. (He has performed over 60,000 gastric sleeves). With barriatric surgery, you need a physician who is proficient. The hospital and o.r. was very clean. The nurses and physicians were all so nice. Most spoke english well and those that did not would ask a co-worker to assist. Back at the hotel the nurses station was next to our room. The nurses would check on us and give us our I.v. infusions, change our dressings and give us jello, popsicles and juice. They are very organized and professional. I never felt uncomfortable or unsafe. Tomorrow will be one week and i can see a difference already. I'm so thankful to Dr. Almanza and his team.
