I have spent the majority of my life over weight and not just by a little bit. I have seesawed up and down, never landing at a healthy weight. Finally, I decided it was time to take control of my life and like many, I did not have the $20,000 required to have a gastric sleeve done in the states. So began my search. Fortunately, my sister in law had used Weight Loss Agents a year previous and raved about what an amazing job they do. So, my journey began. I was 248 pounds, type II diabetic, high blood pressure, GERD, high cholesterol, arthritis, asthma and the list could continue... all of this at the age of 43. I knew if I stayed on my current path I would die fat at 50 and I didn't want that. Upon getting to Tijuana I was nervous... who wouldn't be. Fortunately, the staff were well equipped to bring me back to earth and reassure me that it was all going to be ok. Then came the day of surgery... we checked into the hospital, fortunately my room mates and I had developed friendship and were there to support one another, before as well as after surgery.
Now, I am not going to tell you that I had no post-op pain or nausea, in fact, I had substantial nausea. I'd get up to go walk the hall (helps get the gas out, not so lady like) and when I'd get back to my bed, I'd get sick. The nurses were wonderful at getting me anti-nausea medication. They kept pain medication in my IV bag as well as the medication needed to control my blood pressure. With all of my health conditions, I was a challenge and they exceeded my expectations of care.
Now, 9 weeks later I am down 45 pounds and am enjoying a whole new life. I am more active then I have been in years. I go to the gym daily and work out and actually enjoy it. My knees no longer hurt, even though the arthritis is still there, I am not as heavy and what a difference it makes. I no longer take ANY diabetic medication... no pills and NO INSULIN!! I go hiking up trails that I have not been able to do in 7 years and they aren't that hard!! Every week when I get on the scale, I cry. They are tears of happiness and joy at having been given back my life.
