I am so pleased my wife talked me into this. I weighed 230 lbs before and had a bmi of 34. I have slowly been gaining weight for 20 years, and no matter what I have tried I didn't lose any weight, and if I did I gained it back quickly.
I lost 10 lbs in the diet before the operation and by the time I got home 5 days later I lost another 10. The next morning when I weighed myself I had lost another 2 lbs. so in total 6 days after my surgery I have lost 22 lbs.
I found the surgery did not cause me much discomfort other than tubes etc, and I have felt no pain. I was up and walking that afternoon getting rid of the gas I had, which was only uncomfortable for a day.
I found the hospital to be extremely clean and well looked after and the views from some rooms to be amazing, I often would walk into one of the empty rooms and stare out during the day and night.
My one suggestion would be, put a bench outside at the back so you could sit and appreciate the view.
I was very impressed with the quality of the staff. Of course, you start with Dr. Almanza, you feel safe knowing he has done thousands, but it is the other people he surrounds himself with that really need to be mentioned. Everybody you interact with seem to only want to help you.
The administration Jessica and Martha speak good English and will fix any issues immediately, making the whole process stress free. The cleaners Rocio and Naty were quiet friendly and very efficient, our rooms and the hospital were spotless. But it really comes down to the quality of nurses at a time like this, to put it clearly they were amazing. I think I have their names, but if I forgot anyone please trust me when I say it is a mistake on my part. They were Lina ,Raymondo, Joselin, Alejandra, and Ricardo.
My experience was a good one. Apart from feeling dizzy and having double vision for a couple of hours on the way home, which I fixed with drinking lots (I cheated and had a couple of protein shakes a bit early, that helped almost immediately).
I would recommend this procedure and Dr., to anyone who would ask.
