Positive life change! *

  • Name: Don Kelly
  • Age: 68
  • Surgery: Gastric Sleeve
  • Surgery date: May 23rd, 2017
  • Testimonial date: September 25th, 2017
  • Surgeon: Dr. Mario Almanza

My name is Don and I had the gastric sleeve surgery on May 23, 2017. At the time of my surgery, I had type II diabetes, acute hypertension, gout, and other minor issues. I was taking 14 different medications per day. My weight was about 240 pounds.

As of September 23, 2017, I weigh 176 pounds. I no longer take any medications as my diabetes, gout, and hypertension are no longer issues. I have calculated my elimination of all the medications will more than pay for all my surgery related expenses in approximately one year.

The physical transformation has been remarkable, and I like getting new clothes! The mental transformation has been extremely important. Both my diabetes doctor and cardiologist have told me my life will not only be extended, but more importantly, the quality of my life will improve.

This procedure requires a commitment to a permanent life style change. It is not a quick fix, and it does take work to be a success, however, the results are worth the effort.

I can highly recommend using Dr. Almanza, as he and his staff were informative (pre-op)and the follow-up staff at the hotel were very accessible and professional. I had priced the same surgery in my home town and the cost were two to three times higher. The recommendation I would make for anyone considering this surgery is have a local doctor for follow-up (and evaluation) and a nutritionist (for proper on-going diet) lined up in advance.
