Let me start out by saying I was very nervous about traveling to Mexico for major surgery when it is something that I had already done in the states. My situation was a bit complicated as I had already had sleeve surgery back in 2012 that was successful but I found that over time I had fallen into some old habits combined with other complications. My insurance does cover this surgery but they would not cover a revision. This started my journey of researching medical tourism to not only allow me to eat solid food again with out discomfort but return to my former self in regards to weight loss. First let me say the hospital is very different in Mexico compared to the states but it was clean and everyone was professional and kind. I especially liked the doctor that visits you at the hotel. While your at the hotel recuperating a nurse and doctor will visit you daily to explain your recovery, go over your x-ray, change dressings, remove drainage tube ect. This is major surgery and you will be uncomfortable for about two to three weeks and then turn a corner and get better every week. Its not a miracle cure but a life changing tool that will help you be a healthier version of yourself! Follow the diet! Change your eating habits and I promise you will reach your goal. I have lost 25 pounds just in the first 4 weeks with 40 more to go! I will get there as will you if you make this choice! Its a little scary and tough but be brave and take the journey to Mexico and change your life! You will be picked up right on time from the airport, taken to the hospital (ignore the not so nice sights on the way to the hospital, the scenery gets a lot nicer once you get into the city) where you will be met with a very friendly professional staff that will take very good care of you until you depart for home. Please note that some of the nurses and hotel staff do not speak English but they do know what they are doing and will take very good care of you. Its been work recovering but I don't regret it at all and Im very happy I made the decision. On another note you don't need someone with you but I found it reassuring to share my room with my own personal caregiver and I don't think I could have flown home with out the much needed help I got from my mother who is also a nurse. By the way she said all of my incisions were perfect! Don't wait any longer, do it! Good Luck to you all!
