I had lapband surgery April 2008 and lost 100% of my goal weight...until my band slipped and I lost even more weight. Luckily my slippage wasn't an emergency and it gave me time to research additional weight loss options and locations.

I chose Dr. Almanza because of the number of revision surgeries he has done.

I was worried that, since i was already at my goal weight of 130 pounds, that I would lose even more weight after surgery instead of maintaining but Dr. Almanza knows what he's doing because I'm now 3+ months post-op and still maintaining my goal weight!

My personal experience traveling to Mexico and having a revision was more invasive than I expected it to be. I did travel alone because I didn't want to worry about anyone but myself and I'm still not sure if I had to do it again if I'd bring anyone...

I was never told that since I was having a revision surgery that I would have a tube down my nose for 2 days or that I would have to stay an extra day at the clinic because of it. That is really my only complaint. I wish I had known that. All my surgery buddies left to go to the hotel and I had to stay with a tube down my nose draining my stomach contents. I literally got NO sleep for the 2 days I was at the clinic.

The Hotel Ticuan was very nice. I chose to room with someone instead of paying extra for a room by myself. It was strange rooming with someone I had never met but I slept most of the time. Dr. Almanza's staff does take you shopping but I wasn't feeling up to it so I declined.

The entire Dr. Almanza staff was amazing! I felt safe. It was clean. Nurses came in and checked on us day and night. I don't have any complaints about the travel, surgery or staff other than the nose tube incident!
