I was nervous flying down by myself to Mexico for VSG surgery. I know that the procedures have been done in Mexico for several years and the skills of the surgeons were comparable with the doctors in the US. I did my research however my wife was a bit different so all the talk in my ear got me thinking a small bit, but not much. You see I have diabetes and high blood pressure, mom is on dialysis, dad is on insulin, brothers and sisters have diabetes, the health insurance companies would be happy just to treat the symptoms, for some more cash and those that covered the procedure would make you jump through hoops. Now I was 250 lbs at 6 foot tall. What made me feel good is talking to people in the hotel lobby that were leaving the next day, they all raved about how well the surgery had been, also the after care in the hotel. Really put my mind at ease. On 5/15/2017 Dr. Mario Almanza performed my surgery, super knowledgeable explained the procedure to me to a fault, I felt any anxiety that I had go bye bye after we talked. They definitely treated me good, and took care of me quite well in the hospital that night. The next day I was taken to the hotel, I was treated great and the nursing staff really was attentive to my needs. The Doctor even came to the hotel to check me out a few times, that would not happen in the states... Fast forward to 6/12/2017 one month after, ya I am getting used to eating again however I am now at 215 lbs, I have normal blood sugar and normal blood pressure. I cannot wait to work out so I can really get fit. If I have these results now I am going to look fantastic, with a good workout routine along with a good diet. If you are on the fence about doing this procedure, and getting your life back, all I can say is like Nike... Just do it!!!
