sister and cousin decided to do it
with me. My parents and myself
have diabetes, and we are all over
weight. It was great having so
many members of my family make
the decision to better their lives.
We were all able to have our
surgery the same day. When we
arrived at the airport in San Diego
we had to wait for another person
whose flight was delayed but
getting over the border was a
breeze. The drivers were very
friendly.(Especially Nestor) He
was funny and kept us informed of
how things would take place. We
ended up going straight to the
hotel. We had our broth,popcicles,
and jello in the restaurant with
other people their having the
surgery. We had our blood work
and tests done the next morning
before our surgery. The hospital
was small but very clean. Dr.
Almanza came in and explained
everything and asked if we had
questions.The staff put in our IV's and wrapped our legs with ace
bandages, then we waited. My boyfriend went first as he was extremely nervous, about an hour later they came for me. Before I knew it I was back in my room next to my boyfriend. The staff was great. They checked on us and made sure we weren't in any pain. The next morning we were released to go back to the hotel. The nurse met us at the door and explained how to reach her and told us we could shower. The nurses would come to our rooms and change our bandages, give us meds, and bring us popcicles. We could also get jello, popcicles,water, and ice from the restaurant. We felt good enough to even do a little shopping. The driver was very nice and stayed with us the whole time. The day before we left we had a leak test. They gave us some purple fluid to drink. Then we had to drink another fluid as they took the xray. All our tests were good. We were able to go home the next day. We have been home about 3 weeks now and we have all lost over 20lbs. My dad and boyfriend are down over 30 lbs. I have to say I am so glad I did this, I thought my boyfriend would be struggling but he has done so well. We are well on our way to a new life. Don't let the thought of going to Mexico to get surgery scare you. The Dr. and his staff are very skilled and take extremely good care of you. I am thankful everyday for Weight loss agents. They made it affordable for me to change my life. I will post updates and pictures as we lose more weight.
