Dr. Wiljon Beltre

Wiljon W. Beltre, MD is a Board Certified surgeon who has dedicated his professional career to helping individuals who are significantly overweight achieve real, effective weight loss and improve their health, well-being, and quality of life through metabolic and bariatric surgery. Dr. Beltre received his undergraduate degree at Union College in New York and his medical degree at Howard University in Washington, DC. He completed his general surgery internship and residency at Monmouth Medical Center in New Jersey, then moved to Central Florida where he worked with one of the most experienced bariatric surgeons in the United States. In 2004, he completed a fellowship in cutting-edge, minimally-invasive surgical technologies, advanced laparoscopic procedures, and bariatric surgery techniques at the University of Texas, and is now one of the only fellowship-trained bariatric surgeons in Central Florida. Dr. Beltre is Board Certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the American Society of Bariatric Surgeons and Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). He has performed thousands of obesity surgeries, and has an outstanding safety record and a proven track record of achieving successful results for his patients. He was one of the first surgeons in Central Florida to perform cutting-edge surgical techniques such as the sleeve gastrectomy. He remains committed to staying abreast of the very latest developments in metabolic and bariatric surgery in order to offer his patients the safest, most effective solutions to their obesity and obesity-related health problems. Although Dr. Beltre has been dedicated to improving people’s lives through weight loss surgery since 1998, he was forced to close his private practice in 2008 after he was given the stunning diagnosis of advanced colorectal cancer. Determined not to give up and committed to fighting his disease for as long as possible, Dr. Beltre completed two rounds of chemotherapy and underwent major abdominal surgery. Incredibly, Dr. Beltre won his fight with cancer and reopened The Center for Metabolic and Obesity Surgery in 2010.
