    Dr. Michael C. Cheung is a South Florida native and is excited to be part of the medical community in the area he has called home since his childhood. He recognizes the delicate balance between the science of medicine and the art of patient care, and truly believes it is a privilege to be a surgeon and to take care of patients. Dr. Cheung is committed to building relationships with his patients based on trust and communication while keeping the patient’s health and well being his utmost priority.

    Dr. Cheung completed his undergraduate education at Emory University. He returned home to receive his medical degree from The University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine. He remained at The University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital for seven additional years where he completed the five-year General Surgery Training Program and a two-year Research Fellowship in the Department of Surgery. He then went to Duke University Medical Center where he spent three additional years training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

    Dr. Cheung has performed extensive clinical research and has authored over 50 manuscripts that have been published in peer-reviewed medical journals. Furthermore, he has written several textbook chapters and has spoken at national meetings about his research. Dr. Cheung has been recognized for his accomplishments at every level throughout his medical career. While at The University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, he was awarded the John J. Foman Award for outstanding performance in surgery. As a surgical resident at The University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, Dr. Cheung was the recipient Robert Zeppa Research Award. During his Research Fellowship, Dr. Cheung was the recipient of awards at the Copeland Research Competition and the South Florida Surgical Research Forum, both of which were awards issued by The American College of Surgeons. While at Duke University, Division of Plastic Surgery, Dr. Cheung was the recipient of The Georgiade Teaching Award as well as In-Service Award.

    Dr. Cheung pairs his credentials and excellent training with compassion and humility. He understands that changes to a person’s body due to aging, trauma, or cancer surgery can negatively affect one’s life both physically and emotionally. Dr. Cheung offers a full spectrum of cosmetic surgery as well as the most advanced techniques in reconstructive surgery following cancer resection or traumatic injury. With every patient, Dr. Cheung will work to combine his credentials, training, compassion, and humility to provide each patient extraordinary results.
